Curator: Lux Lindner
The 31st edition of the Contemporáneo program, dedicated to current, local, and regional art. On this occasion, Malba invited the illustrator Lux Lindner (Buenos Aires, 1966) to be the curator, who in turn chose nine Argentine artists to exhibit around a theme: the relationship between art and science in contemporary culture.
On display is a selection of 20 pieces by Héctor Meana, Aimé Pastorino, Eduardo Santiere, Julián Terán, Leticia Obeid, Nuna Mangiante, Pablo La Padula, Rodolfo Marqués, and Julián D’Angiolillo, all Argentine artists with different orientations and techniques within the field of contemporary drawing.
“One of the reasons for organizing this exhibition is to reach out to a community (the scientific community) that is more threatened than one might imagine—a community with which art, as a tool for understanding the world, needs to interact on an ongoing basis—and, at the same time, to suggest that there are other modes of knowledge than explosive illumination and other avenues of extraction than impatience,” explains Lux Lindner.
The exhibition offers an insight into the recent work of artists whose working processes steer clear of the easy solutions and promises of instant magic, and are more closely linked to the patience and decomposition characteristic of the scientific method. The approaches are as varied as the artistic careers of each artist, although a predominance of drawing has been sought.
